Delete your account

The quickest path is in the Quillwort app: open the account screen, choose Delete my account, and confirm.

If you cannot use the app

Email contact@guidedroots.com from the email address you sign in to Quillwort with. Support will verify the request without asking for your password.

What happens next

Access is blocked immediately. Your shelf photos, your scans and what was found in them are deleted within 24 hours, apart from the records listed below.

After that, a deleted photo stays recoverable in our file storage for at most 9 days, and encrypted database backups keep a copy for up to 14 days, before both are gone for good.

Some records are not deleted with your account. After it is deleted, we keep your purchases and the record of your scan credits for seven years, for our accounting. We keep a record of each scan, without its photo, and our internal record of actions on your account, for twelve months. We keep, with no time set, the text our catalog search received from your scans and imports and what it found, and what any report you made of a wrong match said about the book, because what scans find is useful to us. Our privacy policy lists each of these under Retention. Any credits left in your account end with it.

What we already sent OpenAI for your recommendations is not deleted with your account; OpenAI’s own terms govern it, as our privacy policy says.

Your Guided Roots sign-in is not deleted, because other Guided Roots products may use it. To delete it too, ask in the app or email us from that address; we delete it within 30 days.
