Quillwort is provided by Guided Roots LLC (guidedroots.com). Where these terms give Quillwort a permission, they mean Guided Roots LLC.
The service
Quillwort helps you identify and organize books visible in shelf photographs. Recognition and catalog matches can be incomplete or incorrect, so you remain responsible for reviewing findings before adding them to your collection.
Who can use Quillwort
You must be 18 or older to use Quillwort. If we learn that an account belongs to someone younger, we close it and delete it as the privacy policy describes.
Scan credits and purchases
Reading a shelf photo uses one scan credit. Ranking the books found in it against your reading taste, or a friend's, uses none. Quillwort has no subscription and no free trial, and every scan is paid for with credits. A new account starts with no credits. We can add credits to an account ourselves.
Credits are sold in the app, in packs of 10, 30 or 60, through the App Store or Google Play, which shows you the price before you buy. Each pack is a single payment. Credits do not expire, and nothing renews.
Credits belong to the Quillwort account they were bought or given for. Deleting your account ends any credits left in it: a new account starts with none, even one opened with the same Guided Roots sign-in.
A credit is given back when you stop or delete a scan before it finishes, when a scan fails, and when you delete a photo that read too few books before its findings reach you, which the app offers as a retake. It is not given back for a scan whose findings you have received.
You make a purchase with Apple or Google, and their terms and refund policies apply to it. You can also write to us about a purchase, and we consider each request. If Apple or Google refunds a purchase, we take back the credits it bought (or the refunded share of them) from the credits you have left, but never more than you have: your balance never goes below zero.
Your content
You retain rights in photos and information you submit. You grant Quillwort permission to process that content only as needed to provide, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the service.
Acceptable use
Do not upload content you lack permission to use, interfere with the service, evade usage limits, or use Quillwort for unlawful activity.
Availability and changes
Pre-release features may change, fail, or be withdrawn. To the extent permitted by law, the service is provided without guarantees that every book will be recognized or that catalog information is complete.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado.
